Tether Freezes $4.2B in Tokens Linked to Criminal Activity

Stablecoin issuer Tether has frozen $4.2 billion worth of USDt tokens connected to suspected criminal activity over the past three years. Most frozen since 2023. USDt remains the largest stablecoin with $180 billion outstanding. Tether directly assisted the US Department of Justice in seizing $61 million tied to pig-butchering scams.
