Oscilloscope Laboratories Acquires North American Rights to Underland Documentary
Oscilloscope Laboratories has secured North American distribution rights to Underland, a critically acclaimed documentary exploring hidden worlds beneath the Earths surface. The film, based on Robert Macfarlanes bestselling book, premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival in the documentary competition section and will receive a theatrical release in 2026. The documentary follows explorers venturing into ancient caves, melting glaciers, science laboratories, and abandoned mines. Featured subjects include speleo-archaeologist Fatima Tec Pool, urban explorer Bradley Garrett, and Princeton theoretical particle physicist Mariangela Lisanti. The film is narrated by Sandra Huller, Oscar-nominated star of Anatomy of a Fall. Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky serves as producer, marking his second collaboration with director Robert Petit following their acclaimed 2019 experimental film Upstream. The production also involves Sandbox Films, Spring Films, Planet Octopus Studios, and Protozoa Pictures. Oscilloscope Laboratories, known for releasing independent films including We Need to Talk About Kevin and Meek's Cutoff, acquired the documentary as part of its continued commitment to distinctive cinematic storytelling.
