Finnish Solid-State Battery Breakthrough: 107% Capacity at 100C in Independent Test

The implications for electric vehicle applications are substantial. Current lithium-ion systems face limitations in extreme climates—subzero temperatures cause sluggish charging while high temperatures trigger dangerous thermal runaway. Solid-state technology could enable vehicles with longer range, faster charging, and reliable operation across extreme temperature ranges.
However, the independent report does not address critical questions regarding dendrite formation—microscopic lithium metal growth between anode and cathode that can cause internal short circuits.
