Dem Candidate Rakhi Israni's Past Donations to Far-Right Republicans Exposed

Rakhi Israni, a new Democratic candidate in California's 14th Congressional District primary, raised $2 million in her campaign's first two weeks, drawing attention to her funding sources. Public filings reviewed by The Intercept reveal years of personal political donations from Israni to far-right Republican figures. Recipients include MAGA candidates, the Republican head of evangelical Zionist group Christians United for Israel, anti-abortion candidates, and far-right pundit Laura Loomer. Israni, a first-time candidate with a history of Hindu nationalism advocacy, stated, "Let me be unequivocal: I oppose Trump's attacks on our democracy, his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, his assault on reproductive freedom, and the division he has fueled in this country. I reject MAGA politics." She is challenging progressive Democrats including state Sen. Aisha Wahab, strategist Matt Ortega, BART board president Melissa Hernandez, and immigration attorney Abrar Qadir for the seat being vacated by Rep. Eric Swalwell, who is running for governor.
