Iran Arrests Dozens, Seizes Starlink Devices in Crackdown on Satellite Internet Black Market

Iranian authorities have launched a major crackdown on a clandestine satellite internet network, arresting dozens and seizing over a hundred Starlink terminals. The operation, reported by Iran's ISNA news agency, targeted individuals across 19 provinces for allegedly selling SpaceX's Starlink devices, which have become a critical tool for circumventing state-imposed internet blackouts during the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict.

Sardar Ahmad-Reza Radan, commander-in-chief of the Iranian police, stated that from the beginning of the 'Ramadan War,' 48 key members of networks, cells, anti-revolutionary groups, and espionage rings were arrested, and 139 Starlink devices were discovered. This coordinated action highlights the regime's intense focus on controlling information flows and suppressing communication channels used by opposition and activist networks operating within the country.

The widespread seizure of these terminals underscores the significant pressure on Iran's internal security apparatus to stamp out unauthorized access to the global internet. The black market for Starlink kits represents a direct challenge to state censorship, providing a lifeline for dissident communication amid nationwide connectivity restrictions.
