German Production Powerhouse Freud & Ecstasy Expands to U.S., Taps Fabrizio Ellis to Lead New York Office
German production company Freud & Ecstasy is making a decisive move into the American market, establishing its first U.S. office in New York next month. This strategic expansion signals the company's ambition to build a direct bridge between European creative production and the influential U.S. entertainment industry, marking a significant step in its international growth just a year after its founding.
The new office will be led by Fabrizio Ellis, who joins Freud & Ecstasy from Rashaad Ernesto Green’s Mi Alma Films, where he served as a creative executive. Ellis's background in development and creative strategy positions him to spearhead the company's stateside operations and project pipeline. The company was launched last year by producer and writer Frederik Ehrhardt, with initial backing focused on regional European projects.
This transatlantic move places Freud & Ecstasy directly within one of the world's most competitive media hubs. The establishment of a New York base allows the company to cultivate local talent partnerships, access U.S. financing streams, and develop content with cross-cultural appeal. For Ellis, the leadership role represents a major career pivot into steering the U.S. arm of a rapidly scaling European entity, with the pressure to quickly establish its footprint and creative reputation.
