The European Commission has concluded its initial investigation into Google's integration of artificial intelligence into the Android operating system, finding that the platform requires greater openness—a determination that Google has already dismissed as regulatory overreach. The inquiry, launched in January as a specification proceeding under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), now sets the stage for potential mandatory changes to Android's AI implementation as early as this summer.
